DSAR Officer St. James's Place
• Gloucestershire, Gloucestershire, United Kingdom

This job is with St. James's Place, an inclusive employer and a member of my Gwork – the largest global platform for the LGBTQ+ business community. Please do not contact the recruiter directly.

About the role:

This role plays a critical part in safeguarding the organisation's compliance with statutory data protection obligations under the Data Protection Act 2018 and the UK General Data Protection Regulation. Working closely with the DSAR Manager, the role is central to coordinating and delivering accurate, timely, and legally robust responses to data subject access requests (DSARs).

Given the regulatory sensitivity and potential reputational impact of this work, the role requires good judgement, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to handle highly confidential and often complex personal data. It offers the opportunity to take on significant responsibilities from day one and to develop advanced expertise in the UK data protection and privacy landscape.

What you'll be doing:

As a DSAR Officer, you will be responsible for leading and supporting the end-to-end handling of Data Subject Access Requests (DSARs), ensuring all requests are processed accurately, securely and within statutory deadlines.

Working collaboratively across the business, you will identify and gather relevant personal data, exercising sound judgement to determine scope and completeness, before reviewing information and applying statutory exemptions where appropriate to support regulatory compliance and reduce risk. You will ensure sensitive and third-party information is appropriately redacted, prepare and issue responses through approved channels, and handle follow-up queries in a professional and timely manner.

Acting as a trusted compliance partner, you will proactively identify and elevate risks, challenges and potential issues, helping to safeguard the business from regulatory and reputational exposure. You will contribute to improving DSAR processes, controls, and governance frameworks. You will support fair, efficient, and customer-focused outcomes.

About you:

You will be a detail-orientated and highly organised individual that thrives in dealing with people and wanting to provide support to them, whilst also maintaining that business hat on to ensure the work is completed accurately. You'll enjoy working with a range of stakeholders and get to expand your knowledge within data privacy.

  • High attention to detail
  • Organised and proactive to manage multiple deadlines
  • High level of resilience
  • Interest/ Experience in Data Protection
  • Full-time
