Graduate Quantity Surveyor

Gloucester

Salary: £28,000 per annum

Our client is a well-established, medium-sized main contractor based in Gloucester. Due to continued growth, they are looking to recruit a Graduate Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a recent Quantity Surveying graduate to begin their career with a supportive construction business, working alongside experienced Quantity Surveyors and gaining hands‑on exposure to a variety of live projects.

The successful candidate will assist with the financial and commercial management of construction projects from initial tender stage through to final account.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assisting with the preparation of project cost plans and budgets
  • Supporting the procurement of subcontractors and suppliers
  • Preparing and issuing tender enquiries
  • Comparing and analysing subcontractor quotations
  • Assisting with valuations, payment notices and cost reporting
  • Monitoring project costs against budgets
  • Supporting the management of variations and change control
  • Attending site and commercial meetings
  • Assisting with the preparation of final accounts
  • Maintaining accurate commercial records and project documentation
Candidate Requirements
  • A degree in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline
  • A genuine interest in developing a career as a Quantity Surveyor
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills
  • Good communication and organisation skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Confident using Microsoft Excel and other standard software
  • Previous construction experience would be beneficial but is not essential
  • A full UK driving licence would be advantageous
