Dmv Customer Service Technician; Part-Time

Overview

Virginia’s Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is looking for a service-oriented professional to work as a Customer Service Technician at the Gloucester Customer Service Center. If you possess strong customer service and problem-solving skills, with a willingness to learn, and want a career with growth opportunities, we would like to talk with you.

The selected applicants will handle various customer transactions, including communicating policies, procedures, and regulations; issuing IDs; processing applications; administering vision, driver, and in-car road tests; processing vehicle registrations and titling; collecting taxes; and providing other DMV related services.

• Customer service experience
• Proficiency with personal computers, computer information systems, databases, and related service operations
• Mathematics and basic accounting practices and principles such as reconciliations
• Ability to interpret, explain, and apply complex statutes such as the Motor Vehicle Code and other laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures
• Analytical skills to analyze records, files and documents to reach logical and legal conclusions
• Proven ability to work well under pressure during peak workload periods, work cooperatively in a team environment, and communicate in a courteous, professional and tactful manner, both orally and in writing, with all levels of staff and a diverse customer population
• Completion of required employee training and ability to perform work tasks at different work stations within the CSC; operate all equipment necessary to perform the job
• Availability to work Monday–Saturday with varied hours
• Preferred experience with the Privacy Protection Act and DMV policies and procedures related to CSC operations
