Box Office Assistant – Guildhall, Gloucester City Council, Salary £24,796 per annum pro rata. 18.5 hours per week, permanent, flexible hours primarily Wednesday to Saturday.

Overview

Gloucester Guildhall invites you to join its Visitor Experience team as a friendly, organised, customer‑focused Box Office Assistant. You will be the first point of contact for visitors, supporting a wide range of events and ensuring a warm welcome.

What you will be doing
  • Selling tickets in person, by telephone and online.
  • Providing excellent customer service to visitors, artists, promoters and event organisers.
  • Managing customer enquiries via email, telephone and face‑to‑face interactions.
  • Processing bookings, ticket collections, refunds and waiting lists.
  • Maintaining accurate customer records and handling cash in line with procedures.
  • Supporting city‑wide events and cultural activities through the Guildhall Box Office.
  • Working closely with colleagues to ensure the smooth day‑to‑day operation of the Box Office and front‑of‑house areas.
What we need from you
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Enjoys working with people and can remain calm under pressure.
  • Confident using IT systems and administrative processes.
  • Good attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
  • Ability to work flexibly, including evenings and weekends.
  • Experience in a customer‑facing role.

Experience of working in a box office, ticketing environment or using systems such as Ticket solve would be an advantage; full training will be provided.

Working hours and rota

This is a flexible 18.5‑hour per week contract, primarily Wednesday to Saturday on a rota. Shifts include daytime and evening work, and may require some extra hours on other days or to stay after an event ends.
