An exceptional opportunity has arisen for an experienced Design Manager to join a major construction project currently entering a critical phase of delivery in Gloucestershire.
Working as part of a high-performing project team, you will be responsible for managing the design process from pre-construction through to project completion, ensuring technical excellence, programme certainty, and successful stakeholder coordination throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities- Manage and coordinate the design process from pre-construction through delivery
- Lead design team meetings and drive design programme performance
- Coordinate consultants, specialist designers, subcontractors, and project stakeholders
- Ensure design information is delivered in line with programme requirements
- Review design solutions for buildability, compliance, quality, and cost effectiveness
- Identify design risks and develop mitigation strategies
- Support procurement activities and technical package reviews
- Manage design approvals and statutory authority interfaces
- Drive value engineering and continuous improvement initiatives
- Ensure seamless integration between design, commercial, and construction teams
- Previous experience as a Design Manager, Senior Design Manager, Design Coordinator, or Technical Manager within the construction industry
- Experience delivering large-scale construction projects
- Strong understanding of design management processes throughout the project lifecycle
- Ability to manage multidisciplinary consultant teams
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Strong knowledge of planning, building regulations, and construction methodologies
- Degree-qualified in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or a related discipline preferred
