.
Are you passionate about higher education in Wales? Do you want to help ensure providers support sustainable improvement in student outcomes and learning experience? Are you a student, staff or consultant currently working in a UK college or university, with experience representing student benefits, and able to support and constructively challenge institutional plans? If so, you may be the person we’re looking for!
We are currently seeking to expand our group of QAA peer reviewers to participate in the Quality Enhancement Review (QER). QER is an external peer review process focused on improvement, helping to assure and elevate quality of provision across the higher education sector in Wales. It is a key framework within the Welsh Quality Assurance Framework (QAF).
While we welcome applications from students across the UK, we are especially keen to receive applications from colleges and universities in Wales. QAA is committed to ensuring a Welsh speaker is appointed to every QER review team where relevant. We therefore encourage applications from Welsh speakers to help meet this commitment.
This is an exciting time to join an organisation with a vital role in the third sector higher education service. We look for experienced individuals for QER as part of our review team and may invite you to participate in other QAA review activities across the UK and Ireland.
About the Quality Assurance Agency
We are a leading quality agency with a reputation for providing systematic and collaborative excellence and quality improvement. We support universities and colleges by working with students, learners, governing bodies, funders and regulatory bodies to demonstrate and enhance high quality and standards of higher education provision. We work to increase public understanding – both nationally and internationally – of how superior quality is demonstrated in UK higher education and how effective institutions maintain and meet their standards.
Our work protects students’ and learners’ rights and safeguarding interests, and promotes and protects the reputation of higher education.
About the role
As a Student Reviewer you will work as part of a team to apply your knowledge and experience, and engage in review activities with support from a QAA Officer. This includes using evidence and documentation provided by universities and colleges, and visiting the institutions to assess their teaching and support provisions.
Your time commitment depends on the activities you select and will likely involve a range of weeks or months of work, leading to one or more visits, depending on the review approach and the institution reviewed. Further details on main duties and responsibilities, in addition to required knowledge, skills and experience, can be found in the role profile of the Student Reviewer.
Training requirements include mandatory general training (Health & Safety; GDPR; Equality, Diversity and Inclusion; Cyber Security), and specifically for the review method before undertaking any quality assurance activity.
