High School, Math Teacher
Overview
The Mathematics Department at Sir Thomas Rich's School is extremely strong, comprising staff who are passionate about the subject and who support each other by sharing resources and ideas. They also contribute to the extra-curricular provision the department offers. Expectations and standards are high, as historic results show, and both students and teachers need to have a mutual commitment to succeed.
Our students are stimulating and challenging learners who respond very positively to engaging and enthusiastic teachers. At present, there are a total of ten teachers of Mathematics (full and part-time). The department shares responsibilities out amongst its staff, with everyone willing to make their contribution in order to ensure everything runs smoothly. We offer exceptional opportunities for professional development and we remain dedicated to mentoring and supporting our staff.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated, outstanding graduate to teach maths from Key Stage 3 up to A Level. The ideal candidate would be a strong A Level teacher who is confident across Pure and Applied aspects of the course as every member of the department has Sixth Form teaching due to the number of teaching sets we cater for.
An ability to teach Further Mathematics A Level would be desirable. We hope to appoint a colleague who can work as part of a team, who can contribute to the development of new schemes of work and resources, and who can share innovative teaching and learning strategies. This full-time temporary fixed term post until 31
May 2027 (in the first instance) to cover maternity leave, would be equally well suited to an ambitious ECT or a more experienced teacher willing to contribute to the extra-curricular life of the School.
Founded in 1666 as the Blue Coat Hospital, today Sir Thomas Rich's is a progressive grammar school for boys in Years 7 to 11, and young men and women in the sixth form. GCSE results consistently come in the top 10% for attainment and value added in the country.
Our students typically achieve ten or eleven GCSEs, mostly at the highest grades, and three or four A-levels, mostly at grades A
