Primary Teacher – Gloucester, Gloucestershire
Full‑time, permanent position starting September. Salary competitive and commensurate with experience.
About the RoleYou will lead a small class of Key Stage 1 or 2 pupils with additional diagnoses such as Autism Spectrum Condition, ADHD, attachment difficulties and trauma‑related needs. The role focuses on creating a safe, predictable and engaging learning environment, rebuilding trust in education and supporting students to achieve academic progress while managing emotional regulation and personal development.
Key responsibilities include:
- Planning and delivering a highly differentiated curriculum that is accessible, engaging and tailored to individual needs.
- Adapting lessons to be flexible, creative and responsive to balancing academic progress with emotional regulation and relationship‑building.
- Managing challenging behaviour using positive, consistent and relational strategies.
- Tracking progress, contributing to EHCP targets and working collaboratively with wider professionals and families to ensure joined‑up support for every pupil.
- Working as part of a multi‑disciplinary team, including therapists and behaviour specialists, to support both educational and emotional needs.
- A strong understanding of the primary curriculum.
- Experience in adapting curriculum content to meet a wide range of learning needs.
- Ability to build meaningful, trusting relationships with pupils who may have experienced educational disruption.
- Confidence in managing challenging behaviour using positive, consistent and relational strategies.
- A calm, reflective and resilient teaching style.
- A commitment to inclusive education and high expectations for all learners.
- Experience with ASD, ADHD, de‑escalation techniques or restorative approaches is highly beneficial but not essential.
- An understanding of EHCPs and experience working within a multidisciplinary team is desirable.
