Are you a passionate and experienced educator looking to make a real difference in young people’s lives?
We are seeking a dedicated SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) Support Specialist to work across schools in the Gloucester area, supporting students both on a 1:1 basis and within small group settings
.
This is a rewarding opportunity to support pupils with additional needs in mainstream and specialist settings. You will play a key role in helping students develop confidence, improve behaviour, and engage positively with learning.
Responsibilities- Providing 1:1 tailored support for students with SEMH needs
- Delivering small group interventions focused on emotional regulation, behaviour, and engagement
- Supporting students with complex needs including ASC, communication difficulties, and behavioural challenges
- Building strong, positive relationships with pupils to promote trust and progress
- Collaborating with teachers, SENCOs, and wider school staff to implement effective strategies
- Creating a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment
We are looking for an individual who brings experience, resilience, and a genuine passion for supporting young people.
Qualifications- Significant experience within education (mainstream, SEN, PRU or alternative provision)
- Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure
- A proven track record of building positive relationships that improve student outcomes and self-esteem
- Experience supporting students with SEMH and complex needs
- A flexible and adaptable approach to working across different school environments
- A positive attitude, great sense of humour, and commitment to student success
A teaching background or relevant qualification (such as a PGCE or equivalent) would be highly beneficial.
