Are you passionate about supporting young people and helping them overcome barriers to learning? A rewarding opportunity has become available for a Youth Worker to join an educational setting in Gloucester, supporting children and young people with additional needs
This Youth Worker role offers the chance to work in a highly supportive school located in the Gloucester area. It is well-regarded for its nurturing approach and strong emphasis on building positive relationships with students.
Many of the young people you will support may experience social, emotional, and mental health challenges alongside learning difficulties. Some students may have autism, communication needs, or additional diagnoses that impact their ability to access mainstream education. Working as a Youth Worker, you will help create a safe and structured environment where students feel understood and supported.
The Role

Help young people who may struggle with emotional regulation, behaviour, or social interaction
Provide consistent mentoring and positive role modelling throughout the school day
Work alongside teachers and SEN professionals to implement tailored support strategies
Encourage independence, confidence, and engagement with learning
Help maintain a calm, structured, and inclusive classroom environment in Gloucester
Adapt your approach depending on individual needs
The ideal Candidate:
Empathetic, resilient, and proactive
Passionate about Autism, SEN, and child development
A strong communicator and relationship-builder
From a background in Psychology, Education, Counselling, Care, or similar (desirable)
Experienced in SEN, ASD, care, or mental health settings (beneficial but not essential)
Previous experience working with children, youth work, care, or support roles is beneficial but not essential for this Stroud-based opportunity.
