An exceptional opportunity has arisen for an ambitious and visionary Headteacher to lead a specialist school in Gloucester supporting children and young people with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), SEND and associated learning needs. This role offers far more than traditional school leadership. The OpportunityAs Headteacher, you will be responsible for the overall leadership, development and performance of the school, ensuring outstanding outcomes for pupils while creating a culture where staff are empowered to deliver their very best. Working closely with senior leaders, families and external professionals, you will drive school improvement, oversee curriculum development and champion the highest standards of safeguarding, wellbeing and teaching practice.
Key areas of responsibility include:
- Providing strategic leadership across all aspects of school life
- Driving excellence in teaching, learning and pupil outcomes
- Leading and developing a high-performing multidisciplinary team
- Creating an ambitious and personalised curriculum for pupils with SEND
- Ensuring outstanding safeguarding and pastoral provision
- Building strong partnerships with families, local services and the wider community
- Leading quality assurance, school improvement and regulatory compliance
- Developing future leaders and fostering a culture of professional growth
You will be an experienced senior leader or Headteacher with a proven track record of improving outcomes and inspiring teams. We welcome applications from existing Headteachers and exceptional Deputy Headteachers ready to step into their first Headship.
You will bring:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Significant leadership experience within education
- Strong knowledge of SEND, ASC and inclusive educational practice
- A proven record of driving school improvement and raising standards
- Experience of leading and developing staff teams
- Outstanding communication and stakeholder management skills
- Strategic vision combined with operational excellence
- A passion for improving the life chances of children and young people
NPQH or equivalent leadership qualifications would be advantageous.
