Primary Teaching Assistant

In close partnership with three well‑renowned primary schools in different areas of Gloucester, I am supporting them in their recruitment for Teaching Assistants to start in September. All positions are for the full academic year until July 2027 in the first instance.

• Support three children in years 4 and 5 with Social Emotional Mental Health needs (SEMH), trauma, attachment disorder, autism and ADHD.
• Must have previous experience with SEMH, autism and ADHD and be physically fit.
• Include de‑escalation techniques through football and outdoor play.

• Provide 1-to-1 support for a child in year 2 during mornings and generalist support for a child in year 5 during afternoons.
• Morning support is 1-to-1; afternoon support is primarily generalist with occasional 1-to-1 as needed.

• General class Teaching Assistant (full‑time) - support year 2, in‑class support under the direction of the classroom teacher, including break time and lunch duty. Key stage 1 subject knowledge is ideal. Potential short‑intervention support may be required.
• SEND Teaching Assistant (full‑time) - support two children in year 3 with SEMH needs, encouraging engagement and regulation through movement breaks and intuition. One pupil has a Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA) profile, the other an op positional defiant disorder (ODD) profile. Prior experience with SEMH and challenging behaviours is mandatory.
• Part‑time SEND Teaching Assistant
  - Wednesday to Friday. On Wednesdays and Fridays support a year 3 child with PDA one-to-one in the morning and a year 6 child working at a year 1 level in the afternoon. On Thursdays provide general class support for a year 4 class.
