Business Unit Description

The Customer Operations business unit at UCAS was formed to deliver and enhance the support and product & services provided to students, advisers, providers and other stakeholders involved in the higher education admissions process. This department focuses on improving the efficiency and effectiveness of customer interactions, ensuring that applicants and the providers they consider, and apply to, receive timely and accurate information, assistance, and guidance throughout the application cycle.

It’s also the unit where we anticipate, respond to and define customer change to ensure UCAS can meet the needs of its customers and stakeholders going forward. Working in cross-company multi-disciplinary teams comprising;
Customer Service and Relationships, Product Management, International, Policy, Admissions Reform and Fair Access.

The Role

UCAS helps connect the world to UK higher education as the largest single gateway to undergraduate (UG) degree entry. The purpose of this role is to develop and maintain strategic, trusted relationships with key stakeholders across the international admissions, recruitment and marketing functions of UK higher education providers. Acting as the principal liaison between UCAS and the international higher education community, the postholder will champion the needs, challenges and ambitions of the sector, ensuring UCAS has a deep understanding of the evolving international recruitment landscape.

The role is responsible for driving engagement with universities, colleges and sector bodies, enabling stakeholders to maximise the value of UCAS products, services and support in achieving sustainable international student recruitment and enrolment objectives. Through relationship management and market insight, the postholder will ensure the voice of the international sector informs UCAS strategy, product development and service delivery. As a visible ambassador for UCAS, the role will enhance its profile and reputation through active participation in conferences, events and sector networks, while identifying opportunities to strengthen partnerships, increase engagement and support organisational growth.

Skills,

qualifications, and experience
  • Significant experience working in an international student recruitment, admissions or aligned environment in UK higher education
  • A strong network of decision-makers within the international higher education sector
  • Ability to build sophisticated, robust, long-term relationships that are mutually beneficial.
  • Customer-focused, ambitious and self-motivated with a passion to succeed.
  • A solid understanding of the international higher education landscape, including relevant policies.
  • Experience in formal relationship and/or account management
  • Proven track record of generating new business opportunities and meaningful engagements
  • Excellent communication, organisation, networking and presentation skills.
  • Target driven, with a high level of integrity and professionalism.
  • Skilled at strategic analysis, problem solving, negotiation, objection handling, and conflict resolution.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and possibly internationally as needed.
