At Gloucester Academy, we are looking for a passionate and knowledgeable SENDCO to join our team and and to work alongside our existing SENDCO to lead our provision for pupils with special educational needs and disabilities.

This is an excting opportunity to make a lasting impact across the school, working collaboratively with colleagues, parents and external professionals to ensure that every child feels valued, supported and empowered to achieve their very best.

As SENDCO, you will play a central role in promoting inclusion and ensuring that students with special educational needs and disabilities receive high-quality support throughout their educational journey. Working closely with pupils, families, staff and external agencies, you will coordinate effective provision, oversee statutory responsibilities and help remove barriers to learning so that every student can participate fully in school life and achieve success.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced teacher who is passionate about inclusion and committed to improving outcomes, wellbeing and life chances for children and young people with SEND.

Key aspects of the role include:

• To take responsibility for the identification and monitoring/review/evaluation of the SEND needs within the school;
• To regularly review the identification and placement of pupils with SEND on the SEND Register;
• To ensure that appropriate information regarding the pupils’ SEND and support strategies are shared with all staff;
• To review, refine and implement SEND and related policies to ensure best provision for our pupils;
• To meet with parents and the pupil to set up, review and evaluate SEND Support plans and provision plans
• Make referrals and liaise with professionals outside of the school - this could range from and include: MAST team, psychologists, Local Authority SEND team with EHCP applications, health and social care providers, speech and language therapists and occupational therapists;
• To contribute to planning for the delivery of evidence‑based and effective SEND strategies and support to meet the needs of pupils with SEND;
• Ensure appropriate assessment of all pupils receiving support and assist colleagues in the setting of realistic and challenging targets for future progress;
• To provide outstanding teaching to pupils;
• Support staff with the writing and implementation of Learning Plans and Behaviour Plans and the keeping of appropriate, up to date records;
• To undertake additional assessments of specific learning needs;
• Carry out all duties and responsibilities as a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead;
• This is not an exclusive list of the role and responsibilities;

We're Looking For Someone Who:

• Holds a Qualified Teacher Status
• Good Hons. Degree and relevant postgraduate studies
• Holds a SEND qualification, however this is not essential
• Has Trauma Informed Training, however this is not essential
