Role

As a Technical Buyer you manage end‑to‑end procurement of technically complex, made‑to‑specification components. Work closely with Engineering, Production, Quality and Finance to deliver cost, quality, delivery and capability while continuously improving performance and reducing supply‑chain risk.

Responsibilities
  • Manage day‑to‑day procurement activity including order placement, expediting, quality issue resolution and invoice query clearance.
  • Maintain accurate MRP and purchase order data.
  • Source and onboard suppliers capable of meeting both technical and commercial requirements.
  • Own and develop supplier relationships for assigned commodities, driving performance against KPIs.
  • Support commodity strategy development, including capacity, capability, cost, quality and supply‑chain risk.
  • Assist with sourcing projects, supplier approvals and audits.
  • Implement supplier improvement plans in collaboration with Quality.
  • Work cross‑functionally with Production, Design, Stores and Accounts.
  • Identify and deliver opportunities for process, productivity and quality improvements.
  • Act with professionalism, integrity and accountability at all times.
Qualifications
  • Strong engineering background with the ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Good understanding of manufacturing processes, particularly milled and turned components.
  • Experience assessing supplier capability and managing technical supply chains.
  • Analytical, organised, detail‑focused with strong problem‑solving skills.
  • Confident communicator, able to influence internally and externally.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Self‑motivated, collaborative and comfortable managing priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
  • High standards of ethics, integrity and professionalism.
