As Principal Performance & Dynamics Engineer, you will serve as a technical specialist responsible for Performance and Dynamics (P&D) analysis of mechanical and hydraulic systems, with application to aircraft landing gears, including shock-absorbers, extension/retraction and steering systems. Responsibilities include supporting requirements definition, validation and verification, and contributing to the development of analysis methods and tools.
The role will also support the creation of strategies related to P&D activities across assigned programmes. In addition, the position involves mentoring and coaching team members to share technical knowledge and expertise.

What do I need to succeed in the role?
- Experience of landing gear structures and systems
- Experience of dynamic analysis and computational modelling and simulation
- Model correlation and validation experience
- Knowledge of airworthiness requirements and certification for landing gear and equipment
- Experience of using MATLAB/Simulink, MSC ADAMS, and AMESim
- Proficient in coding, e.g. Python
- Ability and willingness to communicate and work with all disciplines of engineering and external suppliers

Minimum of HNC level in an engineering discipline with relevant experience in an engineering discipline.

Roles & ResponsibilitiesYour main responsibilities in this role will be:
- Act as a technical expert for the P&D team, providing high level technical guidance as and when required.
- Actively partake in the Safran Landing Systems Experts Network, sharing best practice across the SLS group. SLS expert as a minimum.
- Use technical expertise to influence and guide industry standards, working closely with specific industry bodies. This may require some global travel.
- Act as a mentor and coach to the wider P&D team, sharing technical knowledge.
- Technical decision-making responsibility for relevant and assigned programme/project.
- Provide solutions to technical problems within P&D.
- Airworthiness technical signatory responsibilities for the P&D domain.
- Build computational models and run simulations.
