Senior Design Engineer - Aerospace

Our client, a pioneering company in the aerospace sector, is currently seeking multiple Senior Design Engineers for a initial 6 month contract role in Gloucester. This pivotal position entails designing efficient landing gear systems for civil and military aircraft, supporting their entire lifecycle from concept to production.

Purpose:
To design and detail efficient landing gear systems for aircraft, ensuring they meet stringent customer demands. The role supports the design and manufacture of these systems throughout their entire lifecycle. Supporting on existing programme design work.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support all aspects of concept to detail design throughout the life cycle of landing gear programmes
• Support product configuration processes
• Utilise the latest technology, including CAD, 3D modelling, 2D draughting, and data management systems
• Design to meet exacting customer requirements and industry standards
• Deliver technical presentations to customers
• Coordinate with team members, chief engineers, programme management, manufacturing teams, and colleagues at other sites
• Collaborate with manufacturing teams to reduce non-conformances on products
• Assist with the offload of packages of work to other sites
• Work toward achieving Design check signatory status
• Mentor and coach junior team members

Skills Required:

Essential:

• Degree in a relevant engineering discipline
• Solid understanding of design and manufacturing processes, within the aerospace industry
• Proficient in both traditional and computerised design and analysis methods
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• General computer literacy, particularly with Microsoft Office
• Prior experience with configuration management
• PML tools

Desirable:

• Training in GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing)
• Experience with CATIA V5
