As a Trainee Applications Engineer, you will learn to support the delivery of projects from enquiry through to completion, with guidance and mentoring. Responsibilities will increase progressively as your skills and confidence develop.
Key Responsibilities- Supporting engineers with the delivery of live projects
- Assisting with quotations, costings, and project documentation
- Learning how commercial elements like costs, variations, and invoicing are managed
- Assisting with design work using software such as AutoCAD and SEE Electrical
- Supporting procurement and working with suppliers
- Maintaining accurate project and contract records
- Attending site visits to see how your work comes to life
- Communicating with customers as your confidence grows
- Learning how to work safely and follow industry‑leading SHEQ standards
You will complete the Engineering Manufacturing Technician (Electrical & Electronic Engineering) Apprenticeship – Level 4, which combines college‑based learning (day release), practical workplace‑based training, ongoing mentoring and support from experienced engineers, and development of technical, commercial, and professional competence.
Candidate RequirementsWe are looking for someone who is:
- Interested in engineering, contracts, and how projects are delivered commercially
- Able to work as part of a team
- Motivated to learn and build a long term career with ActemiumICS
- Organised, reliable, and keen to take responsibility
- Comfortable working with numbers and technical information
- A good communicator with a professional attitude
- Willing to travel to customer sites
- Well organised with a high level of attention to detail
- Committed to completing a Level 4 apprenticeship
- GCSEs – English, Maths and Science at a grade 9‑4 or A
- A Level 3 qualification in Engineering or a Maths based subject
- A fully funded Level 4 apprenticeship qualification
- Hands‑on experience on real engineering projects
- Ongoing mentoring and structured development
