Established for over 30 years, JM selection is recruiting for one of the UK's leading suppliers of architectural aluminium faade solutions. Specialising in the design, fabrication and installation of high-quality building envelope systems across the commercial, residential, retail, leisure and industrial sectors.
As the business project portfolio continues to grow, we are looking to appoint an experienced Design Manager to lead the in-house design team and support the successful delivery of complex faade projects.

The Role
The Design Manager will lead the design department, ensuring the successful delivery of multiple faade projects from tender handover through to manufacture and installation.
This role requires an experienced faade professional with extensive knowledge of aluminium glazing systems, curtain walling, windows, doors and associated building envelope products. The successful candidate will manage a team of designers while working closely with our commercial, production and installation departments to deliver technically robust, buildable and commercially successful solutions.

Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
Lead, mentor and develop the in-house faade design team.
Allocate design resources across multiple live projects.
Carry out design reviews and provide technical guidance.
Support recruitment, training and professional development.
Promote collaboration across all departments.
Design Management
Manage projects from contract award through to completion.
Review and approve construction details.
Technical Responsibilities
Develop practical and innovative faade solutions.
Review architectural and structural drawings.
Ensure compliance with:
o Building Regulations
o CWCT Guidelines
o Relevant British Standards
o Client specifications
Support value engineering while maintaining quality and performance.
Project Coordination
Attend client, consultant and design team meetings.
Coordinate with architects, engineers and main contractors.
Manage RFIs and technical submissions.
Support commercial teams with design-related variations.
Work closely with fabrication and installation teams to ensure buildability.
Manufacturing & Installation
Liaise with production to ensure designs are practical and efficient to manufacture.
Resolve technical issues during fabrication and installation.
Ensure installation methodology is considered throughout the design process.
Essential Experience
Proven experience managing commercial faade design projects.
Strong understanding of:
o Curtain Walling
o Aluminium Windows & Doors
o Structural Glazing
o Brise Soleil
o Canopy Systems
o Fire-rated Aluminium Systems
Experience working with leading system suppliers such as Schco
