We are seeking an experienced and commercially focused senior management accountant to join a well-established company in the retail and distribution industry based in Gloucester.
This role will play a key part in overseeing the financial operations of one of their operations in Milton Keynes, ensuring robust reporting, compliance, and strategic financial management to support growth and profitability.
Travel will be required to Milton Keynes until this role is picked up, the role will then be remote or from the Gloucester office.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee the preparation of monthly management accounts, consolidated group reporting, and financial statements.
- Lead the budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning processes across the group.
- Provide financial insight and analysis to support senior management in decision‑making.
- Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, tax obligations, and internal controls.
- Manage the year‑end audit process, liaising with external auditors.
- Support the board and senior leadership with financial modelling, business cases, and investment appraisals.
- Oversee and mentor finance team members, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in day‑to‑day financial operations.
- Monitor working capital, stock management, and margin analysis to drive performance.
- Business partner with operational teams, branch managers, and suppliers to align financial goals with commercial performance.
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with post‑qualification experience in a similar role.
- Strong technical knowledge of financial reporting, consolidations, and compliance.
- Proven experience in multi‑site or group structures, ideally within the retail or distribution sectors.
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills with a commercial mindset.
- Good initiative and a ‘go‑getter’ attitude.
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Advanced Excel and financial systems knowledge.
