To provide administrative and clinical support to the HEFT, who manage a cohort of patients in the community with enteral feeding tubes. This will include support to Registered Dietitians (RD), Enteral Nutrition Nurse Specialists (ENNS), Dietetic Assistant Practitioners (DAP) and the HEF Team Co-ordinator, in accordance with local policies and procedures. The post holder will work within the British Dietetic Association (BDA) Professional Code of Professional Conduct, the BDA Competency Framework and work toward completing the Department DSW Competency Framework.

Main duties of the job- To assist Dietitians, ENNS and DAPs in their role by:
- Information gathering; to be proficient in collecting (from a variety of sources) and accurately reporting data on:
- Anthropometry, biochemistry, haematological and clinical information to help support assessment, monitoring and treatment plans of patients
- Nutritional information, including intake from a range of sources including food charts, diet histories and verbal recall
- Medical, social, psychological, personal, cultural and economic factors affecting the patients
- First port of contact and troubleshoot any immediate problems encountered by HEF patients
- Assist the HEFT Co-ordinator with specialist dietetic clinic management, to include a knowledge of booking appointments and recording outcomes
- Distribution of daily correspondence and scanning/uploading as applicable
- To liaise with staff/patients to request:
- Anthropometric measurements
- Food record charts for patients who require Dietetic monitoring
- Information relating to personal and cultural food preferences of patients
- Information regarding feed stock levels

Job responsibilities- The post holder will work within operational policies, practices, and procedures, under the appropriate supervision of a registered Health Care Professional
- The post holder will work to deliver a consistent and effective administration and clerical support for the HEFT based on Department and Trust objectives and standards
- The post holder will work under the close supervision and direction of the HEFT Co-ordinator/ RD/ ENNS with support from the Dietetic Assistant Practitioners to assist initially and work towards being proficient in the collection of information including but not limited to anthropometric measures, biochemistry, nutritional intake information via telephone and email contact with patients/relatives and care providers
- To provide administrative support to enable patients to follow their prescribed feeding regimen/plan as directed and delegated by the RD, for example sending out most up to date feeding prescriptions to patients
- As directed, to assist the RD/ ENNS in the provision of clinical advice to patients and carers in various formats, including verbal (telephone) and written (email/letter)
- Assist the RD/ ENNS in the provision of training to healthcare staff and Dietetic students on tasks within their role e.g. ordering nutritional supplements
- With direction, order resources to support the delivery of the HEF Service
- With assistance, support the RD/ ENNS/ DAP staff in the development of departmental resources, including working with IT programmes and location suitable resources
- Assist the RD/ ENNS/ DAP staff with administrative and computer tasks
- Work independently on delegated tasks under the supervision of the HEFT Co-ordinator/ Dietitians/ ENNS and to demonstrate initiative in assisting and supporting clinical staff
