Job Summary
We are seeking a neurodisability paediatric consultant to provide clinical services in Gloucestershire and lead a subspecialty interest. The role involves teaching, supervision, collaboration with primary, tertiary and non‑health agencies, and ensuring high quality care.
Key Responsibilities- Provide first‑class clinical service and safeguarding for children with developmental, neurological and genetic conditions.
- Lead clinical activity, maintain high standards and support risk management and clinical governance.
- Deliver specialist assessment, investigation, continuity of care, and transition to adult services.
- Participate in child protection rota and safeguarding strategy discussions.
- Support junior doctors and nursing staff in decision making and clinical supervision.
- Contribute to county‑wide consultant‑led services and expand capacity.
- Develop training opportunities in line with national guidelines.
- Lead undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, including tutorials and clinical meetings.
- Act as educational supervisor for junior staff where agreed.
- Engage in audit, risk management and evidence‑based practice.
- Supervise and undertake relevant clinical audit projects.
- Maintain CPD and attend accredited conferences and training.
- Participate in annual appraisal and job planning review.
- Full GMC registration, MBBS or equivalent.
- Entry on Specialist Register (or expected within 6 months).
- Clinical training and experience in neurodisability equivalent to UK CCT.
- Knowledge of safeguarding for children and experience in child protection.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in a multi‑professional team.
- Level 3 multi‑agency child safeguarding training.
- Training in a specialist neurodisability or neurology unit.
- Leadership or management qualification.
- Experience in multidisciplinary teamwork and community paediatric care.
- Experience with change management, innovation or publications.
Grade: Consultant Contract: Permanent Working pattern: Part‑time
Salary: £109,725 – £145,478 a year pro rata per annum
