Job overviewWe are seeking an experienced BILD ACT certified senior instructor to join the Behaviour Support and Training Team with a background in the development and delivery of training programmes.
We are a highly motivated team that provides a wide range of learning and development opportunities including conflict resolution, breakaway and Teamwork (restrictive physical intervention) for staff working for Gloucestershire Health and Care Trust.
The applicant must be willing to use existing knowledge and skills and be able to transfer them into the GHC certified training model, PARRI. The model is trauma informed and is supportive of the GHC Trust reducing restrictive practice programme. The senior instructor role is viewed as practice leader and will promote a positive culture of care through the delivery of training and the provision of clinical advice and support.
Mainduties of the job
Training & Education
- Identify training needs (TNA)
- Deliver a range of training (PARRI, conflict resolution, breakaway, search training)
- Adapt delivery styles to suit different settings & audiences
- Evaluate training impact on patient experience, staff skills, confidence, & safety
- Stay up to date via networking & research, improving training quality & sharing best practice
- Assist with reporting, reducing cancellations, & efficient use of resources
- Maintain training equipment & update teaching materials
- Ensure knowledge of legal frameworks (e.g. Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act)
Clinical Responsibilities
- Plan & deliver training aligned with Trust requirements
- Support multidisciplinary work with staff, families, carers
- Enable reasonable adjustments for patients with behavioural challenges
- Act as a role model, promoting teamwork, communication, & professional relationships
Professional Responsibilities
- Provide expert advice on reducing & managing restrictive practices
- Take responsibility for ongoing professional development & maintaining required registration
- Accredited Restrictive Physical Intervention Instructor (accrediting body; BILD ACT)
- Onsite Emergency Response Team (OERT) trained or willingness to attend
- Adult Teaching & Assessing Certificate (Minimum level
3) - Level 5 BTEC Diploma, Practice Leadership in Reducing Restrictive Practices or similar
- First Aid at Work Certified (Level
3)
- Significant, proven experience as an accredited Restrictive Physical Intervention Instructor (accrediting body; BILD ACT)
- Relevant clinical and teaching/mentoring experience
- Demonstrable experience of delivering, assessing and evaluating training
- IT skills – competent in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint & Teams
- Ability to interpret and compile data driven report
- Good clinical knowledge of the reduction and use of a range of restrictive care practices
- Good working knowledge of the legal framework regarding the use of a range of restrictive care practices
- Understanding the audit process and research
- Able to work within a team and be self-directed
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, having confidence to teach a multidisciplinary workforce within the organisation
- Have a flexible approach to working patterns, and work on own initiative, whilst demonstrating good time management skills
- Proven ability to facilitate and support staff
