Specialist Occupational Therapist
The position is for B6 Occupational Therapists to join each of our Integrated Community Teams (ICTs) which operate across Primary Care linked localities of Gloucester, Cheltenham, Forest of Dean (including Tewkesbury, Newent and Staunton), the Cotswolds and Stroud.

Each ICT includes Occupational Therapists, Community Nurses, Physiotherapists, and a Home First service. We work closely with a range of teams from within our own organisation and key local system partners including Adult Social Care, GPs, residential homes, acute hospitals, community hospitals, housing and voluntary organisations.
Main Duties of the Job- Offer OT assessment and interventions to individuals with short‑term, recovery‑focused needs, such as significant health episodes with rapid decline in Activities of Daily Living (ADLs).
- Support patients experiencing sudden unexpected deterioration at end of life, helping them remain in their preferred place of care.
- Provide care for recent acute events or hospital discharges with ongoing clinical risk, not on a Home First pathway.
- Participate in decision‑making and the flow of Occupational Therapy referrals within the locality by supporting clinical triage, ensuring a timely OT response to reduce risk and maintain independence at home.
- Promote supported self‑management as key to personalised and positive outcomes for people.
- Degree in Occupational Therapy with short specialist courses, experience to a post‑graduate equivalent diploma level.
- Health Care Professions Council registration (HCPC).
- Experience delivering occupational therapy in community or equivalent settings.
- Experience with autonomous caseload management.
- Significant post‑graduate clinical experience as an Occupational Therapist.
- Professional knowledge from degree or equivalent, plus short specialist courses, experience to a post‑graduate equivalent diploma level.
- Demonstrated specialist knowledge in patients with complex needs and multiple pathologies.
- Ability to deliver person‑centred, goal‑focused interventions using occupational therapy models of practice.
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and requires a Disclosure and Barring Service check (formerly CRB).
