This role is offered on a permanent basis. The hours are part-time, Nights 22.5 hours per week.
As the successful applicant you will join our dedicated 24/7 team based in Gloucester A&E Department. You will participate in the provision of a responsive, needs-led mental health assessment and short-term intervention service to people presenting to the General Hospital experiencing mental distress, mental illness and/or self harm.
This role is a role that would have an expectation of working a mixture of days and nights, the frequency of these can be discussed at interview.
We will work with you to ensure that we support your professional and developmental needs, this includes a personalised induction to ensure that you are fully prepared and supported in delivering this service.
Our aim is to work closely with our Acute Hospital colleagues to deliver a pro‑active, patient focused service that delivers the right care at the right time and our co-streaming innovation ensures that patients don’t have to wait for their mental health care.
This application is for a part time permanent night worker working 22.5 hours a week over either 2 or 3 shifts with a dedicated night team supported by some team members who rotate.

Main duties of the job- Offer an assessment service to patients presenting at the emergency departments with a broad range of mental health and psychological problems, and psychiatric illnesses
- Provide a mental health consultation, liaison and advice service throughout the departments
- Deliver a range of evidence based psychosocial interventions to individual patients who have predominantly self-harmed
- Assist and support general hospital colleagues in making decisions about treatment and care in complex situations
- Provide formal and informal education and clinical supervision to registered and unregistered staff
- Represent mental health services within the Hospital Trust
- Provide a communication structure between secondary mental health services, primary care and non-statutory services, as a means of ensuring the highest possible standards of patient care
- Professional health or care qualification (MHSW, SROT, RMHN, RNLD)
- Demonstrate clinical expertise in undertaking self harm assessments of adults and young people and/or adults. Demonstrate extensive experience of providing consultation, training and advice to partner agencies
- Proven knowledge and experience of providing effective therapeutic evidence‑based interventions for individuals following episodes of self‑harm
- Comprehensive knowledge of the MHA and Mental Capacity Act
- Recognised qualification in a specific model of therapy e.g. family therapy, CBT etc.
- Significant proven post‑qualifying experience of working with adults and young people who may present with both physical and mental health needs
- Experience of working in a general hospital setting
- Demonstrate experience in developing, providing and evaluating professional development and education to a diverse workforce
- Demonstrate experience in working and supporting colleagues through the processes of change
- Demonstrate experience in the mentorship of students
- Ability to participate in service development processes at a strategic level
- Demonstrate experience and ability in the use of IT systems (including EPR)
