We are looking for a motivated and proactive Pharmacy Technician to join our Pharmacy Stores and Procurement team. This role combines operational leadership within the pharmacy supply chain with direct patient‑facing responsibilities, supporting the safe, effective and efficient delivery of pharmacy services across the Trust.
Main duties- Support the day‑to‑day running of the Pharmacy Stores, Procurement and Distribution service, ensuring safe, efficient and cost‑effective supply of medicines.
- Contribute to service development, maintain compliance with Good Distribution Practice (GDP) and Wholesale Dealer Authorisation (WDA) requirements, and support procurement, stock control and distribution processes.
- Manage supplier relationships, handle medicines shortages, contract compliance, staff training and service improvement initiatives.
- Operate as an accredited checking technician, undertaking final accuracy checking of prescriptions and controlled drugs, dispensing medicines for inpatients, outpatients and discharge patients, and providing advice and support.
- Support medicines optimisation and discharge planning through medicines reconciliation, assessing patients’ own medicines, facilitating timely discharge and counselling patients.
- Collaborate with pharmacists, doctors and nursing staff to improve patient outcomes and promote best practice.
- Registered Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
- Medicines Optimisation qualification, or willingness to work towards this.
- Strong clinical and dispensary knowledge with excellent attention to detail.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work confidently with patients and multidisciplinary teams.
- Good IT skills and ability to prioritise workload, make sound decisions and work accurately under pressure.
- Experience managing workload effectively within a team to meet service demands.
- Knowledge of pharmacy stores, distribution and medicines supply processes.
- Experience working in a busy hospital pharmacy dispensary environment.
- Self‑motivated and proactive, with excellent organisational and time‑management skills.
- Committed to maintaining professional standards and continuing professional development.
- Flexible and adaptable, able to work across different areas and sites as required.
