Overview
Join The Dean Neurological Centre in Longford to provide care, therapeutic and rehabilitation pathways for individuals with neurological or mental health conditions where challenging behaviour may be a leading impairment. Work with Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, SALT and Dietitians to deliver planned therapy programmes that support, develop and restore service users’ functioning across mobility, self-care, productivity, leisure and daily activities. Reporting to qualified Therapists, you will support service users on their recovery journey, preparing and assisting individual and group therapeutic activities and carrying out interventions in one-to-one and group settings to increase engagement, promote recovery and encourage independence.
Mainduties of the job
As a Therapy Assistant, you will join a multidisciplinary team to provide tailored therapy programmes and support both individual and group activities. Responsibilities include carrying out therapeutic interventions, engaging with service users, and adjusting service plans based on changing needs. You will ensure effective communication, maintain confidentiality, comply with Elysium policies, and participate in training and development programmes. This role requires GNVQ 3 or a willingness to train, experience in a care setting, and effective communication skills.

Join The Dean Neurological Centre in Longford to provide care, therapeutic and rehabilitation pathways for individuals with neurological or mental health conditions. Work with Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, SALT and Dietitians to deliver planned therapy programmes that support and restore service users’ functioning, including mobility, self-care, productivity, leisure and daily activities. Report to qualified Therapists, support service users on the recovery journey, prepare and assist individual and group therapeutic activities, and carry out interventions in one-to-one and group settings.
Create one-to-one rapports to increase engagement, promote recovery and encourage independence, with therapy tailored to each service user’s needs. Participate in evaluating service provisions and ensure sessions are observed, reported and recorded; adjust plans under supervision as needs change.
As a Therapy Assistant you will be:
- Undertaking basic procedures as instructed by a qualified therapist, respecting clients’ privacy, dignity, religious and cultural beliefs.
- Reporting any change in service user condition, circumstances or response to treatment promptly.
- Maintaining effective communication within the team and with clients, visitors and colleagues.
- Ensuring written/computerised documentation is accurate and complete.
- Handling and exchanging information with care and sensitivity while maintaining clinical confidentiality.
- Attending in-service training and development to learn techniques required to support senior colleagues.
- Assisting with maintaining a safe environment.
- Committed to helping individuals regain maximum independence.
- Complying with legislative procedures, Health and Safety, COSHH, Fire and Manual Handling.
- Complying with Elysium policies and procedures.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- GNVQ 3 or evidence of willingness to undergo training.
