Job Description

As a Workplace Wellbeing Advisor you will play a key role in delivering evidence‑based, equitable stop smoking services across Gloucestershire, helping to reduce health inequalities and support individuals to improve their health.
The role focuses on working directly with employers and employees to provide smoking cessation support within workplace settings, with particular emphasis on reaching those in routine and manual occupations.
Training will be given to ensure staff are equipped to deliver effective services. The successful candidate will be able to work flexibly, both independently and collaboratively, as part of a wider team committed to improving community health and wellbeing.
Responsibilities- Work with employers and occupational health teams to promote smoke‑free workplaces and deliver place‑based smoking cessation services that support employees to quit smoking.
- Provide evidence‑based stop smoking interventions (one‑to‑one, drop‑in, group sessions, telephone, and online support) in line with the NCSCT Standard Treatment Programme.
- Motivate and empower clients to address nicotine addiction, explain the principles of nicotine and the Stop Smoking Service, and help them set realistic and sustainable goals.
- Embed smoking cessation within routine client care and lead peer support group sessions for successful quitters to prevent relapse.
- Analyse service and population data, deliver services across diverse community and workplace settings, maintain accurate records in line with ABL Health documentation policies, and prioritise a varied workload to meet service demands.
- Collaborate with a range of professionals to embed smoking cessation within routine care, maximise the impact of smoking cessation on health gains, and reduce health inequalities.
- Provide high‑quality, efficient and cost‑effective services throughout a diverse range of community settings.
- Use own judgement to prioritise competing demands and workload effectively to meet specific timescales.
- Higher level education or health, social care, public health or professional qualification, or experience working within smoking cessation, addiction or behaviour change.
- Experience of engagement work with key partners within the community.
- Understanding of behaviour‑change concepts and how to implement them.
- Understanding and evidence of adhering to information governance policies.
- Experience of developing and delivering training to target audiences.
- Experience of supporting occupational or workplace health initiatives.
- Experienced specialist stop smoking practitioner within the community (or willing to undergo training to become one).
- Experience of working with evolving and developing services.
- Positive and proactive outlook with the ability to motivate, engage and support others to achieve high standards and outcomes.
- Adept in communication and able to adapt messages to fit the needs of clients, staff and volunteers at all levels.
- Build strong relationships, foster trust and co‑operation among colleagues and stakeholders throughout community settings.
- Quality‑driven, naturally seeking high standards and actively looking for improvement.
- Value and remain open to new ideas and perspectives.
