As a member of the MSK Outpatient Therapy Service, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality, patient-centred care across a broad range of MSK presentations and sub-specialties.

Candidates need to be able to demonstrate skills and experience of other physiological systems (e.g. cardio-respiratory, neurology) that will support their MSK practice as a static Band 5 in MSK Outpatients.

Main duties of the job

To provide an effective and evidence-based service through assessing, planning and implementing treatment programmes.

To deliver therapeutic intervention in MSK Outpatients, by using the principles of Physiotherapy in an integrated and client-centred way.

The post holder will have no budget or managerial responsibilities.

  • There will also be progression to taking on increasing responsibility for the day-to-day management of the clinical area, in the absence of more senior staff.
  • The post holder is supervised by a named therapist, although they may not be present at all times. Clinical and professional supervision is in the form of regular clinical reasoning sessions, observed practice, peer review and formal training. Access to advice and support from specialist therapists is available as required.

The Therapy MSK Outpatient Service is an integrated service providing Physiotherapy and Occupational therapy to inpatients and outpatients at Gloucestershire Royal and Cheltenham General Hospitals. Our mission is to 'enable people to maximise their potential to live well'.

Our Outpatient service was shortlisted for the HSJ Awards and HSJ Patient Safety Awards 2024 for service improvement innovations and performance recovery.

Person Specification Qualifications and Training
  • Degree/Diploma in Physiotherapy
  • Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council
Knowledge and Skills
  • Deliver evidence-based physiotherapy assessment and treatment
  • Apply a practical approach to problem solving
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills, both verbal, non-verbal and written when interacting with other team members, clients and other professionals
