Portfolio Manager, Imperial Clinical Trials Unit (Maternity Cover)

As Portfolio Manager for the Imperial Clinical Trials Unit (ICTU), you will oversee the Unit’s clinical trial portfolio, ensuring studies are delivered to the highest standards, on time, within budget, and in compliance with regulatory requirements.

What you would be doing

You will support the senior operational team by leading the setup of new trials, monitoring performance and key milestones, reporting portfolio metrics, and ensuring effective trial closeout and archiving across the research lifecycle.

You will undertake a wide range of trial activities for ICTU studies across all stages of the research lifecycle, establishing and maintaining strong and effective working relationships with ICTU Operations Managers, Trial Managers, across the ICTU team, as well as with Investigators. You will also line manage the Unit Clinical Trial Administrators, assist with training and development programmes for the wider Unit and collaborate with the Director of Operations for the implementation of new and refined processes to ensure optimal functioning across all operational activities.

You will have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a biomedical/scientific field.
  • Experience of clinical research management at a senior level.
  • Experience in the line management of research staff.
  • Expert knowledge of the governance and legislative framework for conducting clinical research studies, including Good Clinical Practice.
  • Evidence of preparing regulatory and ethics submissions, as well as other relevant trial management documentation.
  • A flexible approach to working and a desire to develop knowledge.

Further information

This is a full time and fixed term maternity cover role with an expected start date of November 2026 and lasting approximately 10 months. The dates given may change should the member of staff exercise their right to return to work earlier or delay their return to work.

Successful candidates will normally be appointed at the bottom of the salary scale.

You will be based at Stadium House, Wood Lane, close to Wood Lane and White City tube stations.
