Openshift Infrastructure Engineer - Secure Platforms Engineering​/Kubernetes SC Clearance

Overview

Open Shift Infrastructure Engineer role within CGI's Space, Defence and Intelligence business unit. The focus is on designing, building, and operating containerised platforms to enable scalable, resilient, and secure solutions on complex programmes. You will contribute to cloud-native technologies and automation, taking ownership of platform engineering activities and collaborating to deliver meaningful impact.

This position is on-site near Gloucester (UK) five days a week and requires UK Security Clearance or eligibility to obtain it. CGI is committed to inclusivity and to supporting the Armed Forces as part of our Corporate Covenant commitments.

• Design and manage Open Shift clusters and container platforms
• Automate and streamline infrastructure using Ansible, Open Stack, and scripting
• Orchestrate and maintain container workloads using Kubernetes
• Monitor, optimise, and ensure capacity, performance, and resilience
• Support and integrate CI/CD pipelines and Dev Ops workflows
• Implement and maintain disaster recovery and backup solutions
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to align on requirements

You should have strong experience in container platform engineering, with hands-on expertise in Open Shift, Kubernetes, and infrastructure automation. A proactive approach to platform reliability and a strong understanding of modern cloud-native infrastructure within secure or enterprise environments are essential.

• Proven experience with Open Shift and Kubernetes
• Strong understanding of containerised infrastructure and microservices
• Experience with automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Open Stack, Terraform)
• Proficiency in scripting (e.g., Bash, Python)
• Experience supporting CI/CD pipelines and Dev Ops practices
• Knowledge of infrastructure resilience, backup, and disaster recovery
• Familiarity with secure or regulated environments is advantageous
