Remote (must be prepared to travel to Bristol 1 - 2 days a month) Rate: 650 pd (umbrella) About the Role
As a Data Engineer, you will report directly to the Lead Data Engineer and play a pivotal role in designing and maintaining scalable data pipelines. Your expertise will ensure data availability, quality, and performance, supporting key analytics and operational decision-making. This is an exciting opportunity to drive innovation and foster a culture of agility within the organization.
Key Accountabilities- Design & Develop: Build scalable, secure, and efficient data pipelines, ensuring that data is accessible and of the highest quality.
- Roadmap Contribution: Help shape the data engineering roadmap, aligning solutions with business priorities and technical strategies.
- Workflow Optimization: Leverage automation and best practices to enhance performance and cost efficiency.
- Collaboration: Work closely with Data Science, Insight, and Governance teams to enable data-driven decision-making across the organization.
- Governance & Compliance: Implement data governance and security standards, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify risks and ensure ongoing enhancement of data engineering processes.
- Lifecycle Management: Monitor the data pipeline lifecycle from design to post-deployment performance analysis.
- Vendor Engagement: Collaborate with third-party vendors to ensure alignment with project requirements and timelines.
- Emerging Technologies: Stay updated on industry trends to continuously enhance data engineering capabilities.
- Documentation: Maintain clear technical processes to ensure knowledge sharing within the team.
Experience with Mongo
DB: Essential for this role!- Technical Proficiency: Strong skills in SQL, Python, and familiarity with tools like Apache Spark, Kafka, and Airflow.
- Cloud Knowledge: Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP is a plus.
- Data Understanding: Strong grasp of data modeling, schema design, and data warehousing concepts.
- Compliance Awareness: Knowledge of data governance and privacy frameworks (e.g., GDPR, ISO
27001). - Agile Advocate: Understanding of Agile methodologies and Dev Ops practices.
- Relevant bachelor's or master's degree or technology certifications are essential.
