Dev Ops Engineer - Secure Infrastructure (SC Clearance) Position Description

At CGI, the Space, Defence and Intelligence business unit delivers mission‑critical systems that help keep the UK safe and secure. As a Dev Ops Engineer you will build, automate and optimise secure, scalable platforms that underpin critical services. You will drive continuous integration and delivery, enabling faster, more reliable deployments, and contribute innovative solutions to technical challenges.

Due to the secure nature of the programme, you will need to hold UK Security Clearance or be eligible to obtain it. This position will be based on site near Gloucester, 5 days a week.

• Design, build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and automation frameworks for secure, reliable systems within on‑premise environments.
• Streamline development and deployment workflows, ensuring platforms are scalable, resilient and aligned with business and technical requirements.
• Work closely with software developers, infrastructure engineers and security teams to implement best practices across automation, containerisation and system monitoring.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins and Git‑based platforms.
• Automate and optimise infrastructure provisioning using Terraform, Ansible and scripting.
• Develop and support back‑end tooling using Java, Python, C# or C++.
• Deploy and manage containerised applications using Docker and Kubernetes.
• Monitor and troubleshoot system performance across infrastructure and applications.
• Integrate and support messaging systems (Active

  MQ) and databases (MySQL).
• Secure and maintain systems in line with PKI and enterprise security standards.

• Strong experience in Dev Ops or platform engineering roles with a solid understanding of automation, CI/CD and infrastructure management within secure or enterprise environments.
• Proficiency in scripting or development using Java, Python, C# or C++.
• Strong Linux system administration skills.
• Experience with Terraform, Ansible or similar automation tools.
• Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Git or Bitbucket.
• Knowledge of messaging systems (Active
  
  MQ, Rabbit
  
  MQ) and MySQL.
• Understanding of PKI and security best practices.
