Senior Infrastructure Engineer Gloucester £55-70k DOE Monday-Thursday 08:00-16:30 and Friday 08:00-15:00 Line Management (2 Engineers) The Senior IT Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for managing and optimising the global IT infrastructure, with primary focus on the UK region, and for acting as the senior technical lead within the UK IT team. This is an infrastructure-first, security-minded role: the postholder ensures the infrastructure is secure, scalable, resilient and aligned with business needs, whilst taking a leading role in strengthening the organisations cyber security posture.

The Senior IT Infrastructure Engineer line manages two UK-based engineers, leads infrastructure projects and major escalations, and collaborates closely with the Senior IT Infrastructure Lead (US) and Senior IT Infrastructure Engineer (Italy) to ensure consistency across global operations.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

? Senior Technical Leadership:
Act as the senior technical lead and principal escalation point within the UK IT team, providing hands-on expertise across infrastructure and security. ? Team Leadership and Line Management:
Provide line management for two UK-based engineers (IT Infrastructure and Support Engineer and IT Support Technician), including objective setting, performance management and development planning, fostering a high-performance culture and smooth day-to-day operations. ? Mentorship and Development:
Mentor and coach junior IT staff, assisting with complex technical issues and actively supporting their skill development. ? Infrastructure Management:
Oversee the design, implementation and ongoing support of IT infrastructure in the UK office, including virtualisation platforms (VMware/Nutanix), server, storage and network estate, ensuring systems are secure, high-performing and scalable. ? Cloud and Modern Workplace:
Own and enhance the UKs Azure and Microsoft 365 environments, including Entra , Conditional Access, Intune device management and Microsoft Defender. ? Cyber Security Posture:
Support and continuously enhance the organisations cyber security posture, hardening Microsoft 365 and infrastructure to security best practice, tightening identity and access controls, and driving remediation of identified risks. ? Vulnerability Management:
Own the vulnerability management lifecycle for the UK estate, scanning, triage, prioritisation, patching and reporting, working with global colleagues to drive risk down and evidence progress. ? Security Incident Response:
Act as a senior responder for security alerts and incidents, leading investigation, containment and post-incident review alongside the global IT team. ? Compliance Initiatives:
Lead and contribute to compliance activity including Cyber Essentials / Cyber Essentials Plus, ISO 27001 and GDPR, supporting audits, evidence gathering and remediation. ? Project Leadership:
Lead infrastructure and security projects in the UK, such as system migrations, technology rollouts, security tooling deployments and network enhancements, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope and within budget. ? Collaboration with Global Teams:
Work closely with the Senior IT Infrastructure Lead (US) and Senior IT Infrastructure Engineer (Italy) to align infrastructure and security standards, processes and policies. ? Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity:
Own the development and execution of disaster recovery plans and business continuity strategies. Oversee failover testing and ensure the organisation can maintain operations during emergencies. ? Performance Monitoring:
Continuously monitor infrastructure performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing proactive solutions to minimise downtime and ensure system efficiency. ? Vendor Management:
Engage with vendors to evaluate new technology and security solutions, manage relationships, and ensure service levels are met in line with contracts. Knowledge

Required:

? Infrastructure Expertise:
Advanced knowledge of network architecture, server infrastructure, virtualisation technologies (VMware and/or Nutanix) and cloud platforms (Azure). ? Microsoft 365 and Identity:
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft 365 administration and security, Entra , Conditional Access, Intune and Microsoft Defender. ? Security Mindset:
