Key Responsibilities – Busbar Fabrication & Assembly For Switchgear
  • Measure, cut, bend, punch and assemble busbars for low and medium voltage switch gear and related assemblies.
  • Interpret engineering/technical drawings, schematics, and work instructions to fabricate high-quality busbar systems to specification.
  • Operate fabrication machinery (such as cutting equipment, punches, and benders) and hand tools, ensuring safe and efficient use at all times.
  • Form busbars to precise dimensions and tolerances for bespoke electrical distribution equipment.
  • Install insulation, fit fixings and supports, and ensure all assemblies meet electrical and mechanical safety requirements.
  • Collaborate with design engineers, panel builders, and quality teams to deliver integrated solutions on time and to specification.
  • Carry out checks for quality, compliance, and assist in inspection, testing and commissioning activities when required.
  • Follow company and industry health & safety and environmental standards throughout all work.
Essential Skills & Experience – Busbar Manufacturer & Fabrication Technician
  • Previous experience in electrical busbar fabrication, panel building or relevant industrial assembly environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, layout diagrams, and fabrication work instructions confidently.
  • Skilled in the use of workshop tools and machinery (cutting, punching, bending, drilling, tapping, and assembly).
  • Understanding of electrical safety, insulation methods, and the requirements of busbar systems.
  • Excellent attention to detail, commitment to quality workmanship and pride in producing reliable, safe products.
  • Effective communicator and team player, able to work collaboratively with diverse colleagues and follow clear procedures.
Desirable Skills – Electrical Switchgear & Busbar System Careers
  • Apprenticeship or recognised qualification in electrical engineering, fabrication, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with latest industry standards for switch gear, busbar systems, and power distribution panels.
  • Experience of continuous improvement, Lean manufacturing or supporting efficiency initiatives in a workshop setting.
