We are a global leader in aircraft landing and braking systems, providing solutions across commercial, military and defence fleets. Our expertise covers the entire life cycle of our products – from design and manufacturing to maintenance and repair.
What you’ll be doing:
- Build and set up test equipment for landing gear testing
- Assembly and fault‑finding of electrical installations (e.g. PLC, HMI, wiring harnesses) using electrical schematics
- Assembly, fault‑finding and maintenance of hydraulic systems
- Compile electrical schematics
- Calibrate transducers
- Install strain‑gauge instrumentation
- Set up data acquisition and control systems for testing
- Support Test Engineering facility activities related to health & safety and maintenance
Year 1:
You will spend time at a private local engineering training provider where relevant qualification units are delivered and assessed.
Year 2–3:
Training is delivered and assessed within Safran, where you will achieve a Level 3 Diploma. Apprentices will spend allocated time working in different departments to meet training needs.
All of our apprentices are assigned an apprenticeship coordinator who will support you throughout your learning journey.
Job RequirementsWhat you’ll need to be successful:
- 5 GCSEs, grades 9 – 5, or A* – C (including English, Maths and Science)
- An interest in engineering from school, hobbies or other experiences
- Positive work ethic and the ability to work both alone and with others
- Willingness to learn and tackle new challenges
- Strong communication, attention to detail and problem‑solving skills
- The ability to plan and organise yourself
