Rotating pattern of 12‑hour shifts including day and night.

The Machine Operator is responsible for the safe operation of production equipment to deliver customer requirements through completion of the production plan, adhering to quality standards and maximising cost effectiveness, optimal running and equipment efficiency.

• Operate production machines safely and effectively to meet the production plan.
• Perform pre‑start‑up checks and ensure the area and equipment are clean and safe.
• Carry out changeovers between products and maintain quality standards while minimising impact to the plan.
• Inspect machines, resolve issues, and keep the machine running optimally.
• Carry out cleaning, lubrication, and basic maintenance activities such as washouts and allergens cleaning.
• Provide continuous supply of appropriate packaging and raw material.
• Record accurately events during the shift (cases packed, rejects, etc.) and conduct effective hand‑over activities.
• Follow safety and environmental procedures and raise incidents via safety tags, near‑miss forms, and accident reports.
• Monitor quality against set standards and report any product, hygiene, or packaging faults.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives by collecting data, monitoring performance, and taking further action as required.
• Use problem‑solving tools to identify, prioritise, and address issues within the skill set.
• Work effectively as a team member and coordinate production activities with colleagues.
• Share knowledge with other team members and support training as needed.
• Maintain physical fitness to move between workstations, lift loads, and perform manual tasks within the risk assessment limits.
• Interact with computer interfaces at a basic level for entering production data, raising tags, and accessing production order software.

• National school leaver qualifications in Reading and Comprehension, Writing, and Mathematics.
• Basic mechanical awareness of principles of factory automation.
• Strong problem‑solving and team‑working skills.
• Competence in the use of machine data and control systems for material movement, losses, and quality.
• Experience as a Machine Operator (preferred).
• Experience in a fast‑moving consumer goods company (preferred).
• Desire to progress onto the Unilever Technical Operator Curriculum at entry, developing, or full level.
