Job Description Summary

During a time of exciting growth at Dowty (a GE Aerospace company) we have a new opportunity for an 18‑month fixed‑term contract to join our on‑site manufacturing team in Brockworth, near Gloucester, as a manufacturing planning specialist. As a planner you will manage and ensure the integrity of product data within our business planning system, oversee embodiment of engineering changes, act as the focal point for New Product Introduction (NPI) activities, and support the Master Production Schedule (MPS).

Essential

Responsibilities
  • Oversee the creation, maintenance, and accuracy of item master data within our business planning systems such as Syteline and Oracle ERP. Ensure that all data related to part numbers, descriptions, specifications, and BOMs are correct, complete, and up to date, and that they comply with internal standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Implement and maintain data governance processes to ensure standards are adhered to. Conduct regular audits and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to identify and correct data discrepancies, redundancies, and inaccuracies in the item master.
  • Work closely with engineering, quality, procurement, production, and customer‑facing teams to maintain a smooth flow of product data across the supply chain. Provide support and act as the plan for all design changes, engineering change notifications, and other data projects to ensure product configurations and item master data align with operational and program needs.
  • Coordinate the supply chain implementation of all engineering changes and new products, ensuring the timely and accurate setup of parts and BOM changes. Plan effectivity dates, inventory impacts, and MPS adjustments, and secure buy‑off from cross‑functional stakeholders.
  • Establish required standard operating rhythms for change implementation and data quality within the Planning Team that meet strategic goals. Monitor key processes through key performance indicators reviewed within our daily management and document standard work.
  • Identify areas for improvement in planning processes, recommend and implement process changes to increase efficiency, reduce lead times, and minimize costs by utilizing our Flight Deck Tool kit.
  • Train and mentor team members on ERP systems as required.
  • Act as a delegate to the Master Schedulers (trained as such) and support Materials Fulfilment where required.
Qualifications / Requirements
  • Experience in manufacturing or production planning is a key requirement.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college, or equivalent knowledge and experience in manufacturing and/or supply chain operations.
  • Working knowledge of both ERP and MRP systems.

  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Problem‑solving mindset.

  • Ability to prioritise workload and adapt in a dynamic environment to meet customer demands.
  • Willingness to adapt to change and drive process improvement through Flight deck fundamentals.
  • APICS CPIM certification – Production and Inventory Management.
