The Alney Practice is looking to employ a Practice Nurse to work across 2 sites - Cheltenham Rd and Highnam.
We will eventually have a total of 35 hours available and are open to filling the vacancy as one full‑time post or two part‑time posts, so please apply if interested (minimum 16–18 hours across 2 days).

To attend either Cheltenham Rd or the Highnam surgery as requested, to provide general practice nursing. These clinics could include general treatment room services such as phlebotomy, ear irrigation, immunisations, cervical smears and wound dressings, dependent on your competences and qualifications.

Our nursing team consists of 6 Practice Nurses, 1 HCA, and 2 GP Assistants who also undertake many HCA roles in their clinical time.

Job Title: Practice Nurse
Responsible for: Providing a general nursing service within The Alney Practice
Job Purpose: To attend practice nurse clinics, providing high quality nursing in a variety of clinical areas.
- To attend either Cheltenham Rd or the Highnam surgery as requested, to provide general practice nursing. These clinics may include treatment room services such as phlebotomy, ear irrigation, immunisations and wound dressings, dependent on your competences and qualifications.
- To offer patient‑centred, evidence‑based nursing.
- To document all care given in a clear and concise manner using a variety of computer systems.
- To manage the nursing care of patients within general practice clinics, employing personal recall systems suitable to the practice’s needs. This includes using the practice computer systems for accurate and efficient input of data.
- To work within your own competencies and qualifications in line with the NMC Code.
- To develop and maintain effective communication between the nursing team.
- To work safely at all times in accordance with the NMC, legislative requirements and company policies and procedures.
- To attend regular meetings with the nursing team, if required.
- Experience of UK Primary Care Nursing
- Practical experience of managing patient‑centred clinics
- Practical experience and evidence of appropriate knowledge base
- Awareness of National Service Frameworks
- Experience of managing change
- Practical experience of managing health and safety at work
- Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
- Good time‑management and the ability to work to deadlines
- Good interpersonal skills, both verbal and written
- Evidence of problem‑solving and decision‑making skills
- Ability to be reflective, accept criticism and act constructively
- Good understanding of audit and willingness to partake in audit
- Smart, polite and confident
