At Gloucestershire Hospitals, we welcome Newly Registered Adult Nurses (qualified or qualifying this academic year from a local University such as UOG, UWE or UOW) to join our teams across a wide range of clinical settings. If you’ve trained with us during your placements, this is a great opportunity to continue your career within a supportive and familiar environment, where you can build on your experience and develop your confidence as a registered nurse.
You will be fully supported as you transition from student to registered nurse, working alongside experienced nursing and healthcare professionals who are committed to helping you grow your clinical skills and confidence in practice.
We offer a comprehensive 12-month Preceptorship Programme designed to support your development and professional growth. As part of this, you will also have the opportunity to undertake a Level 7 Preceptorship Module at the University of Gloucestershire, providing a strong foundation for both academic and career progression.

- Demonstrate ability to assess patient condition, develop and implement appropriate care, within the multidisciplinary team.
- Communicate effectively, especially where patient ability to do so is compromised.
- Disseminate contentious and delicate information appropriately.
- Deliver safe care within a challenging and changing clinical environment, using equipment and resources safely and as appropriate.
- Administer medication and treatment within Procedure for the Ordering, Prescribing and Administration of Medication Guidelines.
- Deliver and receive information which may cause emotional distress to all parties.
- Participate in mentorship and educational programmes for students and other members of the team.
- Adhere to all Trust policies and procedures and professional code of conduct.
- Regularly responsible for the supervision and mentorship for unqualified, qualified staff and students.
- Input and retrieve patient and staff information from computer‑based systems.

Person specificationQualifications and Experience
- Active NMC Adult Nursing Registration (or pending if currently a student)
- Evidence of qualifying as an Registered Nurse (Adult) in 2026 with a local university (UOG, UWE, UOW)
- Evidence of clinical placements at GHT (including areas and duration)
- Ability to communicate clearly and work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
- Demonstrates understanding and consistent application of Trust values and behaviours
- Participation in audits, quality improvement, or well‑articulated reflective learning
- Enthusiasm for a specific area of nursing
- Examples such as leadership in training, extra clinical skills, or proactive learning
