You’ll be supported every step of the way. Your role will be to gain practical experience in a few teams developing your knowledge and understanding of Severn Trent and the processes.
All of this will allow you to further develop your skills so you can communicate data effectively to a wide variety of stakeholders. HOW THE PROGRAMME WORKSYou will be based at Staverton in Gloucestershire, the heart of our patch. The programme requires you to be based in a workshop each day whilst working on Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGV), gaining your exposure to manufacture specific vehicles.
You will study towards becoming a vehicle technician role, where you will be able to put your skills to action.
In this exciting programme, you will have the chance to discuss your development and career ambitions in your 1‑1 meetings with business leads, mentors, a study buddy, the cohort leader, and the New Talent Team.
As part of this apprenticeship, you will be studying towards an A Level 3 qualification in Heavy vehicle service and maintenance technician. WHAT YOU WILL LEARN- Carry out basic tasks with tools and equipment common to all procedures involving basic mechanical and electrical procedures related to HV
- Contribute to the maintenance of a safe and efficient workshop and adhere to the company and legislative processes
- Use diagnostic and electrical measuring equipment to identify faults and underlying causes on HV’s
- Follow recognised diagnostic procedures, logical diagnostic sequence and apply advanced diagnostic principles and problem‑solving techniques to establish faults
- Carry out detailed repairs on vehicles up to 44 tonnes
- Triage vehicles and rectify on the spot defects for all vehicles, including tankers
- Use industry standard in‑house software
- A ‘can do’ attitude – willing to get stuck in, take accountability for decisions and actions and who takes pride in their work
- A love of variety in a role and ability to adapt to a dynamic, fast‑paced working environment
- Ability to quickly prioritise tasks and the initiative to dive head‑first into problem solving
- Need to be quick on your feet to respond, as no two days are the same on the front line
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills and enjoy working with multiple teams, as well as being approachable and communicating with customers
