HOW WILL THE PROGRAMME WORK?

You will be based at Staverton in Gloucestershire, the heart of our patch. The programme requires you to be based in a workshop each day whilst working on Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGV), gaining your exposure to manufactured specific vehicles.

You will study towards becoming a vehicle technician role, where you will be able to put your skills to action.

In this exciting programme, you will have the chance to discuss your development and career ambitions in your routine meetings with business leads, mentors, a study buddy, the cohort leader, and the New Talent Team.

As part of this apprenticeship, you will be studying towards a Level qualification in Heavy vehicle service and maintenance technician. You can find more information about this qualification (known as a standard) by following. We encourage you to read this additional information before applying.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

You will expand your knowledge of:

  • How to carry out the basic tasks with tools and equipment common to all procedures involving basic mechanical and electrical procedures related to HV
  • How to contribute to the maintenance of a safe and efficient workshop and adhere to the company and legislative processes
  • Use a range of diagnostic and electrical measuring equipment to identify faults and underlying causes on HV’s.
  • How to follow recognised diagnostic procedures, logical diagnostic sequence and apply advanced diagnostic principles and problem‑solving techniques to establish faults
  • How to carry out detailed repairs on vehicles up to tonnes
  • Triaging vehicles and rectifying defects on the spot— for all vehicles including tankers
  • Learn how to use industry standard and in‑house software
