Community Development Officer

Community Development Officer Local Authority | Maidenhead £20.16 per hour PAYE Ongoing Temporary Contract | ASAP Start Hybrid Working (Minimum 2 Days Office-Based) We are currently recruiting for a Community Development Officer on behalf of a well-regarded local authority based in Maidenhead . This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with community engagement, partnership working or customer-focused experience to make a real difference within local communities.

This varied role combines community development , resident engagement , and Adult Social Care support , helping to strengthen local networks whilst supporting carers and promoting preventative services across the borough.

Key Responsibilities Community Development & Engagement Build and maintain positive relationships with community groups, voluntary sector organisations and key stakeholders. Deliver community outreach and resident engagement activities. Promote preventative support services available to local residents. Maintain accurate information on local services, community groups and support networks. Support voluntary and community organisations with funding and volunteering enquiries. Raise awareness internally of community-based services and resources.

Carers Support Conduct carers' assessments (full training provided). Manage a caseload of carers, typically completing 2-3 assessments per week. Hold telephone and occasional face-to-face conversations with carers. Identify support needs and signpost individuals to appropriate services. Assist the council in meeting its statutory responsibilities relating to carers. Additional Duties Attend community meetings, networking events and webinars. Meet regularly with community organisations and local groups.

Maintain accurate records and case management systems. Support residents through sensitive conversations relating to care and wellbeing needs. About You We are keen to hear from candidates who can demonstrate:
Essential Experience Experience in community engagement, outreach or resident involvement. Experience working with stakeholder groups, community organisations or partner agencies. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. The ability to build and maintain effective relationships. Confidence handling sensitive conversations with professionalism and empathy. Qualifications & Requirements No specific social care qualification is required. Full training will be provided for carers' assessments. Enhanced DBS and safeguarding checks will be required.

Working Arrangements Core hours: 9:00am to 5:00pm Flexible working environment. Some evening meetings may be required, with Time Off In Lieu (TOIL) provided. Hybrid working with a minimum of 2 days per week in the office .
