Learning Support Assistant – Godalming
Location: Godalming, Surrey
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
Contract: Full-Time / Part-Time (flexible options available)
We are seeking a caring, enthusiastic, and dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join our supportive school community in Godalming. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a positive difference in the lives of children and young people by helping them achieve their full potential academically and personally.
About the RoleAs a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and other professionals to provide tailored support to pupils, including those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). You will help create a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment where every student can thrive.
Key Responsibilities- Support pupils individually and in small groups to access learning activities.
- Assist teachers in delivering engaging lessons and classroom activities.
- Promote positive behaviour and encourage student independence.
- Provide additional support for pupils with SEND, including those with autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, or social, emotional and mental health needs.
- Help monitor and record student progress.
- Support pupils during break times, educational visits, and extracurricular activities where required.
- Contribute to creating a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment.
We are looking for someone who:
- Has a genuine passion for supporting children and young people.
- Demonstrates patience, empathy, and excellent communication skills.
- Works effectively as part of a team.
- Is reliable, adaptable, and proactive.
- Has experience working with children or young people (desirable but not essential).
- Holds GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
- Has knowledge of SEND and inclusive education practices (desirable).
