Activities Assistant

Asbury Village is recruiting for a part-time Activities Assistant. This role will be under 20 hours a week. In this role you will be responsible for planning, scheduling, and coordinating meaningful activities appropriate to the needs and interests of residents and conducive to their physical, mental and social well‑being.

• Assists with planning, coordinating activities: workout classes, current events, discussion groups, sensory stimulation, cultural activities, religious services, special entertainment, outside trips, special events and one‑to‑one visits, as indicated.
• Assists with distributing the monthly calendar and newsletter.
• Assists with purchasing supplies for activities as needed.
• Performs and directs the movement of residents to and from recreational areas.
• Maintains accurate documentation of resident’s activity attendance.
• Plans and coordinates activities in the absence of the Director of Resident Services.
• Attends in‑service training and education sessions, as assigned.

High School degree required. One year experience in a social or recreational program is preferred in a licensed health care setting. Background or interest in music, art, drama, and dance therapy preferred.

Frequent standing, stooping, bending, stretching, squatting for approximately 60% of work day. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. occasionally. Must be able to push residents weighting up to 250 lbs in a wheelchair. Must be able to read and speak English, hear, and be able to sit and walk intermittently throughout the day. May be exposed to communicable diseases, HIV and Hepatitis B viruses, industrial and household chemicals, offensive odors and combative behavior.
