Position Overview:

As a key strategic member and trusted partner on the Senior Leadership Team, the Controller will manage, implement, and enhance financial accounting systems and other administrative/business processes. The Controller will ensure accurate and timely monthly and annual financial reporting, operational analytics, and other critical activities that support the successful management of company resources.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee all aspects of reporting and accounting for the company and its managed facilities.
  • Identify, implement, and oversee the execution of financial processes, policies, procedures, and controls to ensure compliance with US GAAP, tax laws, and regulations from the Department of Labor and Health and Human Services.
  • Maintain the general ledger and the company’s financial books and records.
  • Organize and drive all closing and consolidation processes in a timely manner.
  • Serve as the primary interface with the external audit firm for the annual financial audit.
  • Oversee and direct activities for accounts payable and accounts receivable.
  • Manage tax matters, including coordination with external firms and all filings.
  • Handle treasury matters, including cash flow analysis, disbursements, deposits, and bank coordination.
  • Develop annual budgets and periodic operational forecasts for the operating entities.
  • Recruit, train, and retain a high-performing team that provides a professional accounting department.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Leadership Team and all levels of functional management to foster a spirit of cooperation and continuous improvement.
  • Review and negotiate benefit packages to control costs while offering competitive packages to recruit and retain skilled employees.
  • Maintain and support a culture of compliance, ethics, and integrity.
  • Ensure confidentiality and rights of residents, families, employees, and facility information in compliance with HIPAA policies and other applicable regulations.

Candidate Experience/Qualifications
  • Five+ years of successful healthcare/senior living experience (Assisted Living Preferred) in a position with multiple entity/operations and controller-type responsibilities, including strategic finance & accounting leadership and full oversight of financial operations, audits, and financial statement preparation and presentation, financial institution and investor reporting, tax planning, key financial processes and systems management, and team management, mentorship, and development.
  • Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills with an ability and desire to develop future finance leaders and grow personally.
  • Excellent skills and experience in working with Excel, Word, and similar work efficiency products.
