Job Description
We’re seeking a Payroll Analyst with UKG experience, strong Excel skills, and multi-state payroll expertise to join our team. This role goes beyond processing and emphasizes data analysis, reporting, compliance, and process improvements to ensure accuracy and efficiency within payroll operations. The Payroll Analyst will collaborate cross-functionally with HR, Finance, and IT to provide insights and support strategic decision-making.
What You’ll Do- Analyze, prepare, and process payroll cycles (wages, bonuses, deductions, garnishments, commissions, and taxes) across multiple states
- Audit payroll data for accuracy, research discrepancies, and recommend corrective actions
- Generate and interpret payroll and compliance reports; provide insights to leadership
- Perform reconciliations and assist with GL entries related to payroll
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including union reporting requirements when applicable
- Support internal and external audits through data gathering, reporting, and documentation
- Identify opportunities for payroll process efficiencies and contribute to system enhancements
- Serve as a resource to employees by addressing payroll-related inquiries with accuracy and timeliness
- Experience managing and analyzing multi-state payroll
- Proficiency with UKG payroll systems and reporting tools
- Advanced Excel skills (formulas, pivot tables, lookups) with the ability to analyze and interpret data
- Strong attention to detail with problem-solving and auditing abilities
- Ability to partner across HR, Finance, and IT functions to improve payroll processes
- Experience with complex scheduling industries (retail, hospitality, or restaurant preferred)
- Familiarity with union payroll reporting and audits a plus
