Minnesota Retina Associates is a Twin Cities based partner practice of Northwest Eye Clinic and Minnesota Eye Consultants. We are excited to be hiring for this team that will be supporting our Retina only Providers as we grow across our region.

Minnesota Retina Associates is currently hiring for a full-time (1.0 FTE) Ophthalmic Assistant in our Golden Valley clinic.

Position Summary

The Ophthalmic Assistant is responsible for diagnostic testing and work-up as delegated by the physician to allow for proper professional diagnosis of the patient's conditions. Our practice offers advancement opportunities and on-the-job training and we promote and encourage growth. Team members can work to advance from COA to COT and COMT and will be supported on this journey. This position will work Monday-Friday, between the hours of 7:00am-5:00pm.

Starting pay is $24.00-$28.00/hour.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform and document subjective and objective ophthalmic testing efficiently to provide basic information necessary for ophthalmic examinations. This includes but is not limited to: history, visual acuities, lensometry (manual and auto), refractometry, keratometry (manual and automated), visual fields, tonometry, assisting with office procedures, performing contact lens I&R’s
  • Educate patients regarding diagnostic testing and their clinic visit
  • Open and close exam rooms, ensure all equipment is clean and ready for the doctor, stock all necessary supplies
  • Inform patients of the purpose of all tests performed and how they will be affected during the tests
  • Other duties as assigned
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Optometry or ophthalmology experience preferred (retina experience a plus but not required)
  • JCAHPO certification preferred
  • Contact lens experience preferred
Certificates, Licenses and/or Registrations Required
  • COA, COT or COMT preferred but not required
