Position: Children's Mental Health Practitioner (Sandburg Middle School, Golden Valley)

Overview

We are seeking a Children's Mental Health Practitioner to work with our New Hope Mental Health Clinic and Sandburg Middle School
. The Mental Health Practitioner is responsible for planning and leading daily Children’s Therapeutic Support Services (CTSS) skills. The majority of the work will be embedded at Sandburg Middle School, doing CTSS skills work, with year‑round groups at the mental health clinic.

Schedule

Monday‑Friday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm or 8:30 am to 5:00 pm.

  • 1–2 days per week will have a later start and end time to accommodate group and community work at the New Hope clinic (5555 Boone Ave N, New Hope, MN 55428).
Locations

Sanburg Middle School providing in‑school CTSS services: 2400 Sandburg Ln, Golden Valley, MN 55427.

Hiring Range

$23.76 - $25.35 hourly, depending on qualifications and experience, plus $1,000 hiring bonus for external candidates.

Job Duties
  • Using and modeling person‑centered principles, actively engage clients in their mental health recovery, and develop and maintain appropriate relationships that support the client in meeting their individual goals.
  • Partner with therapists and school staff in carrying out the activities in support of goals identified in the client’s individual treatment plan.
  • Actively participate in all team meetings, case consultation meetings, and agency trainings sharing relevant developments and/or expertise with other team members and advancing the reputation of services provided.
  • Facilitate and conduct individual and group CTSS skills services that address a variety of needs and health concerns for the client.
Required Qualifications

An individual is qualified as a mental health practitioner in at least one of the following ways:

  • Through relevant coursework if the individual completes at least 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours in behavioral sciences or related fields and:
    • has at least 2,000 hours of experience providing services to individuals with a mental illness or a substance use disorder, or a traumatic brain injury or a developmental disability, and completes the additional training described in section 245I.05, subdivision 3, paragraph (c), before providing direct contact services to a client.
  • Is fluent in the non‑English language of the ethnic group to which at least 50 percent of the individual’s clients belong and completes the additional training described in section 245I.05, subdivision 3, paragraph (c), before providing direct contact services to a client.
  • Is working in a day treatment program under section 256B.0671, subdivision 3, or 256B.0943.
  • Has completed a practicum or internship that required direct interaction with adult or child clients, focused on behavioral sciences or related fields.
  • Has at least 4,000 hours of experience in the delivery of services to individuals with a mental illness or a substance use disorder, or a traumatic brain injury or a developmental disability, and completes the additional training described in section 245I.05, subdivision 3, paragraph (c), before providing direct contact services to clients.
  • Receives treatment supervision at least once per week until meeting the 4,000‑hour requirement and has at least 2,000 hours of experience providing services to individuals with a mental illness or a substance use disorder, or a traumatic brain injury or a developmental disability, and completes the additional training described in section 245I.05, subdivision 3, paragraph (c), before providing direct contact services to clients.
  • Has a master’s or other graduate degree in behavioral sciences or related fields.
