The Renewable Operation Center (ROC) is seeking a highly analytical, detail oriented, and self motivated intern with a strong interest in renewable energy to support Xcel’s rapidly growing renewable generation fleet.

This role offers hands on exposure to real time operations, data driven decision making, and site performance optimization across utility scale renewable assets. The intern will work closely with ROC Operators and the ROC Analytics team to support daily operations and drive continuous improvement initiatives. Key responsibilities include assisting with the development of a daily operational morning report that supports both on site teams and ROC personnel, performing quantitative and trend based analysis to enable proactive work management, and leveraging predictive analytics tools to recommend data driven adjustments to site maintenance and operational strategies.

In addition, the intern will contribute to the design and enhancement of visual and interactive dashboards used by the ROC to identify performance trends, operational risks, and optimization opportunities across the fleet. The role also includes supporting the Senior ROC Analyst in the development and maintenance of databases to enable scalable analytics and collaboration between operations and engineering teams.

This internship is ideal for a candidate who is passionate about renewable energy, eager to apply analytical skills to real world operational challenges, and motivated to assist with positively impacting the performance, reliability, and growth of Xcel’s renewable energy portfolio.

Typical intern responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
• Support analytical and operational initiatives under the guidance of the ROC Sr. Ops Manager and Sr. Analyst.
• Collaborate with ROC Operators, ROC Analysts, onsite operations, engineering, IT support teams, transmission, and renewable operations leadership to support performance improvement initiatives by assisting with the implementation of technical efficiencies.
• Assist the ROC Senior Analyst with data software service initiatives, helping ensure Renewable Operations can deliver accurate and timely reports to internal and external stakeholders.
• Help collect, validate, and organize operational data used for reporting, trend analysis, and post-event reviews.
• Assist the Senior ROC Analyst with trend analysis and reporting to identify and escalate potential indicators of equipment degradation to ROC Operators and onsite leadership.
• Support the ROC’s preparation for future renewable growth by assisting with database organization, participating in local plant SCADA testing activities, and helping to maintain operational reports.
• Support the generation of daily, weekly, and monthly regulatory and operational metric reporting under the direction of the Senior ROC Analyst.
• Participate in team meetings, brainstorming sessions, and project planning with internal and external stakeholders.
